1. A Passion for Life…What Next?

    March 13, 2010 by andrew

So you have been to one of the Passion for Life events and heard some interesting ideas. Maybe you’d like an opportunity to think about it all a bit more. Perhaps you’ve got some questions you’d like to explore. Just possibly you may be thinking that Christianity isn’t quite what you thought and you’d like to check it out with others who are interested in discovery too. If any of these sentences apply to you then take a look at some of these options:

Christianity Explored and the Alpha Course offer a series of discussion-based evenings where you get the chance to hear a short presentation about Christian faith and discuss it.  There are several of these courses planned and you would be welcome at any of them. You don’t have to go on your own either. Why not get the friend who took you to Passion for Life to go along with you, or invite someone else who also has some questions and you could ask them together.

These courses aim to help you grow in your understanding; they are run in a really relaxed way with plenty of time for comment and questions. You don’t have to sign up straight away for the whole course. You definitely don’t have to agree! Just come to one session with an open mind, ready to bring your ideas and see where you go from there.

Puzzling Questions is similar. Over several weeks it concentrates on particular questions people often express when talking about faith. Again it provides a relaxed setting in which you can discuss what bothers, confuses or concerns you about Christianity.

All these courses have great websites giving you more chance to explore them and what others say of them. Take a look!

For details of courses running in this area look at our courses page

Whatever you choose, don’t just forget about it! Be bold…you never know what you might discover.

  2. Come and see…and hear!

    February 10, 2010 by andrew

I do hope that you are planning to come and hear Stephen Gaukroger and the Saltmine Theatre Company at a passion for life as they join us to present the Christian faith in an attractive and approachable way. Stephen is an excellent communicator, who is in demand here in the UK and around the world. Speaking regularly at major events such as Spring Harvest and Keswick, he has written over 20 books, has a clear grasp of the issues that affect our lives and extensive experience as a church leader.

He is lively, relevant, and practical and I am confident that those who hear him will appreciate what he has to say.

Saltmine are a full time professional theatre company dedicated to communicating the Christian faith through innovative and engaging drama. They are guaranteed to entertain, stimulate and inspire through their sketches and dialogue.

So I encourage you to attend the evenings in March at Stowmarket URC on Friday 12, and the Corn Exchange in Ipswich on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14. Everyone is welcome – Admission is free – No ticket is necessary.

It is so sad that many people do not know, or understand the greatest message in the entire world – the good news of Jesus. We all have family, friends, people we know who need to hear. A passion for life can help you to help them.

The Bible tells us that ‘faith comes through hearing the message’ and presses home the point by asking ‘how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?’ How indeed? I invite you to make the most of the unique opportunity that a passion for life gives in March for people to hear this message.
